Worship
may take on many forms, not the least
of these forms is service. We worship our God through our service
to others. This year, Zion in Ashippun will have a “Worship through
service weekend” on August 2-3. On that weekend we will join the
MS society of Wisconsin for the Best Dam Bike Tour to raise money for
MS research and treatment. We are hopeful that the entire Zion community
will volunteer to assist (or ride) in this event. There are a wide
variety of volunteer efforts that are needed so there will be opportunity
for all to participate.
Volunteers will be provided with meals and lodging in the dorm at Whitewater
if they are able to volunteer both Saturday and Sunday. Riders will
need to pay the entry fee and then raise $300.00 in pledges. The entry
fee will cover expenses for the riders so that 100% of the pledges will
go to fight MS. Riders have the option of 62.5, 75, or 100 mile routes
from WCTI in Waukesha to Whitewater. After a night in Whitewater the
riders have the opportunity to choose the same distance routes to Madison
where the ride concludes at the Alliant Energy Center. After a finish
line celebration, riders are bused back to the start in Waukesha, their
bikes being transported back in moving vans.
Zion is a little church doing big things. This is a wonderful way to
demonstrate that to the larger Wisconsin community. Watch for more details.
